Velocity Rims Editorial Review
The Veloplugs offer a compelling alternative to traditional rim tape for cyclists, garnering praise for their effectiveness and durability. Many users have reported an overall positive experience, highlighting their ease of use once the correct size is established. While some have noted that figuring out the appropriate size for specific wheel rims can be challenging, the product also addresses several common issues faced by cyclists with conventional rim tapes. Installation is described as taking around 10 minutes per wheel; however, a few users recommend pre-heating the plugs or lubricating them for easier insertion. Once installed, the plugs have shown to be remarkably effective, with users experiencing fewer flats and enhanced tire fitting. They are touted as providing a secure seal, reducing the risk of tubes contacting the edges of spoke holes, a frequent concern with rim tape. While most found the Veloplugs a significant improvement over rim tape, a common point of contention was the plugs' protrusion from the rim. This fits within the general design philosophy to make tire removal easier, but it does not assist in achieving a tighter fit for the tire during installation. Additionally, it’s crucial for buyers to measure their spoke hole sizes accurately; several reviewers expressed disappointment when the plugs did not match their wheel specifications. Overall, Veloplugs have cemented their status as a worthy solution for many cyclists, given their lightweight nature and ability to remain in place better than traditional rim tapes. The experience varies depending on fitment, but when installed correctly, they deliver substantial benefits. **
