It is not suitable for detecting water leaks under cement or air leaks. It can help pinpoint the source of rattles in a car but is more suited for touching under-hood components. The device can locate a bad rocker arm in a Penastar 3.6 engine and can even help pinpoint a 60 cycle hum. Overall, this device is handy for automotive diagnosis but not suitable for all types of sound-based problems.
