What is Liberon Gilt Cream used for?

Liberon Gilt Cream is primarily used for enhancing and restoring the appearance of gilt surfaces. It's perfect for use on intricate carvings, picture frames, and furniture to bring back that striking gold finish. This cream is ideal for both restoration projects and standard maintenance, as it not only adds an aesthetic touch but also provides a layer of protection against dust and dirt.

How do I apply Liberon Gilt Cream?

To apply Liberon Gilt Cream, first ensure the surface is clean and dry. Using a soft cloth or brush, apply a small amount of cream in circular motions, allowing it to sink into the surface for an even finish. It's advisable to work in thin layers and build up the color gradually. This application method is particularly useful for ornate decorative items, where precision is important to enhance their details.

How long does it take for Liberon Gilt Cream to dry?

Liberon Gilt Cream typically dries within a few hours, but to achieve optimal results, it's recommended to leave it to set overnight. This drying time allows the cream to settle evenly into the surface and ensures that the finish is durable. For intricate or detailed work, waiting longer before handling the item gives the best outcome, especially in high-traffic areas.

Can Liberon Gilt Cream be used on any type of surface?

Liberon Gilt Cream is formulated for use on various surfaces, including wood, metal, and plaster. However, it is best suited for previously gilded areas or surfaces that have been treated. To ensure compatibility, always test the cream on a small, inconspicuous area before full application, especially on textured or porous materials.

Is Liberon Gilt Cream non-toxic?

Yes, Liberon Gilt Cream is non-toxic and safe to use, making it suitable for indoor applications. It is free from harmful VOCs, which means it's environmentally friendly and poses no health risks when applied according to instructions. This safety profile ensures peace of mind for those using it in homes with children or pets.

What colors does Liberon Gilt Cream come in?

Liberon Gilt Cream is available in a range of colors, primarily gold, silver, and other metallic tones. The Trianon variant specifically refers to a rich gold finish that closely resembles traditional gilding. Choosing the right color depends on the original surface finish and the desired aesthetic, making it ideal for customization in restoration projects.

Can I mix colors of Liberon Gilt Cream?

Yes, you can mix different shades of Liberon Gilt Cream to achieve a custom color. For instance, blending gold and silver can create a unique antique finish, ideal for furniture restoration or artistic projects. This allows for greater flexibility when restoring heirloom pieces or crafting new works that require a personalized touch.

How do I store Liberon Gilt Cream after opening?

To prolong the shelf life of Liberon Gilt Cream after opening, store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Ensuring the cap is tightly sealed will help prevent the cream from drying out. Proper storage is essential for maintaining its application quality, especially if you plan on using it periodically for maintenance or restoration work.

Is there a specific tool recommended for applying Liberon Gilt Cream?

While applying Liberon Gilt Cream, a soft cloth or a small brush is generally recommended for best results. For detailed areas and intricate work, fine brushes help ensure precise application. The right tool can significantly affect the finish, especially on complex surfaces where a gentle touch is essential to avoid damage.
