This review is about the Channellock E336 XLT Diagonal Cutting Pliers. The company claims that these pliers have an anvil cutting method instead of two sharpened edges. Some customers feel that it's just a way to save money on grinding two sides, and on some pairs they've noticed that the cutting edge and anvil are off-center and, as a result, less effective. However, others find them to be high quality, well-designed, and relatively affordable. They are well-crafted and have tight fitments according to some. These 7" diagonal pliers are manufactured in the United States and are insulated, though it's not recommended to use them for anything more than low voltage. They can cut steel wire up to the size of a coat hanger and any stranded 8-gauge copper wire, although #6 solid is the limit. The tip of the pliers is ground flat, which makes it difficult to snip any wire that requires reaching inside a box.
