- Tokyo Gul is a 14-volume manga series in the genre of psychological, horror, drama, supernatural and action, written and drawn by Ishida Sui and published by Shueisha Publishing between September 8, 2011 - September 18, 2014. There are Tokyo Gul: JACK manga about the prequel to the series, Tokyo Gul:re manga about the aftermath, and a 2-season, 24-episode anime called Tokyo Gul and Tokyo Gul. The series begins with strange murders in Tokyo. Examining the murder scene and the evidence, the police concluded that the perpetrators were man-eating roses. It is not known how these monsters, which instill fear in the residents of Tokyo, hide during the day, choose their prey, and why they eat them. Ken Kaneki, the protagonist of the manga, and his university friend Hide think that roses live by acting like humans during the day and mingling with people.Kaneki, who loves reading books, meets a girl who also likes to read books at the cafe he often goes to. Having a nice day with this beautiful girl named Rize, Kaneki learns the true identity of this beautiful girl and is shocked while dropping her home. Rize is the perpetrator of the murders that have become more common recently. Rize, who set such a trap to eat Kaneki, dies due to iron falling from the construction site next to them while hungrily tearing apart her prey. Kaneki, who survives when Rize's internal organs are transplanted into him, becomes a half-human/half-gul being. Unable to accept his new identity, Kaneki finds himself in the world of the police after the roses, the terrorist roses after the police, and the roses who want to live in peace with people in this chaos.
